Detoxify with ginger, turmeric and lemon

We wrote before about the positive health effects that ginger and turmeric have on our body. In those blogs we zoomed out and described what the many benefits of using ginger and turmeric can be and whether there are also possible disadvantages. In this blog we zoom in on a specific reason to use ginger and turmeric, namely to detoxify . We also include a third natural detoxifier, because in addition to ginger and turmeric, lemon is also an important support in the detoxification process of our body.

detox

Detoxing is also known as detoxing. It stands for cleansing the body by ridding the body of waste products or toxins. The purpose of detoxing is to cleanse your body (again). You help the liver, which naturally rids your body of toxins, as it were. You can detoxify your body in many different ways, such as fasting, enemas (intestinal rinses), oil-pulling, clay treatments, but also detox cures and supplements. Most forms of detox are not harmful to the body. You have to be careful when using clay or activated carbon. Always check whether detox preparations are pure and/or suitable for consumption. Although there is little scientific evidence that detoxing actually has an effect on our body, many people are convinced of the phenomenon. After a detoxification treatment, people often feel more energetic, cleaner and mentally it usually provides a moment of reflection to start eating and living healthier again.

Ginger: a spicy detoxifier

Ginger, turmeric and lemon are natural detoxifiers. All three of these incredibly healthy foods can make a major contribution to keeping our bodies clean. Due to the sharpness and tingling that is so characteristic of ginger, you could already guess: ginger is a powerful detoxifier. Ginger is therefore included as an important element in many detox cures. Especially in its pure form, ginger (ginger root) is a strong means to support the detoxification process in our body. Ginger helps to start up our metabolism and burn fat. A ginger shot at the beginning of the day is therefore a good start for the body. Ginger is also often used in combination with turmeric or lemon during detox.

Turmeric: a powerful detoxifier

Due to its powerful antioxidant and purifying effect, turmeric is a good addition to the natural detoxification process in our body. Curcumin is the active ingredient in turmeric, which has a detoxifying effect and has a protective effect on the liver. The liver is the main organ in our body’s waste-processing system, next to the gastrointestinal tract and the kidneys. Due to the protective effect of turmeric, the spice supports the functioning of our organs and digestion, which play a crucial role in cleaning and keeping our body clean.

Lemon: a natural detoxifier

Almost every detox cure or detox recipe contains lemon or lemon juice. The acidity of lemon juice stimulates our digestion and helps the intestinal system to better dispose of the waste products in our body. It is also said to promote our burning of nutrients throughout the day. An additional advantage of the citrus fruit would be that it promotes weight loss. It must be said that there is little evidence for this, losing weight is mainly a matter of a higher calorie burning than intake, but lemon can therefore support and possibly increase and promote that combustion in the body.
Shot, juice or tea
As mentioned, there are different ways to detox. Turmeric, ginger and lemon can help you with this in a natural way. An easy way to do that is to start the day with a shot, juice or tea made from one of the three natural detoxifiers or a combination of these. Drinkable detox products are very popular and there are many ready-to-use products available. However, you can also easily prepare these shots, juices and tea yourself in your own kitchen. The purer and stronger, the more powerful the effect. The advantage of making it yourself is that you can make and combine it the way you like it.
